Nutrition

Today while I was navigating on the Internet I found an article online talking about the serious health problems of children, child obesity and the severe consequences of these diseases. To be honest I was a bit shocked by the facts and the high percentage of affected children. I guess everybody knows that we live in a society where people love to eat fat and sweet stuff and drink too much alcohol, especially teenagers.

Children of course cannot know what they should consume more often and what they should avoid. That is definitely the task of their parents. However, as more and more parents are uninterested in the activities and the nutrition of their children, we can clearly see the results.

The article states:

"The researchers found that overweight children are 30 percent more likely than children of normal weight to suffer from three or more medical, mental or developmental problems; obese children are 200 percent more likely.”

Children suffer from many different diseases nowadays. Some of them may become chronic diseases and can lead to death without a professional treatment. Asthma, ADHD, ear infections, joint and muscle problems as well as headaches and depression are the common diseases overweight children suffer from. The society and also young parents have to realise that a healthy nutrition and a bit of sport are vital for a long life without serious health problems.

Nowadays we are able to cure many illnesses by taking pills or through operations and we live in a time where researches in the field of medicine advance in leaps and bounds, nevertheless, operations pose a high risk and should always be the last option. Hopefully people will understand in the near future, that they are responsible for their own health and that medicine cannot treat every disease.
