 Homeland Security

Today I have read through several articles concerning the Department of Homeland Security. I had heard about it before, but I did know exactly why they had introduced this department. The term refers to the reorganisation of U.S. government agencies after the terrorist attack in 2001. They are making a determined effort to prevent terrorist attacks, to minimize the damage of attacks and to reduce the vulnerability of the U.S. to terrorism.
Who are those persons working for Homeland Security? You can see them on TV occasionally. They are responsible for the protection of the president. If you switch on your TV, watching a speech of Obama, you will see plenty of broad-shouldered agents in dark suits with a crew-cut. They are ready to sacrifice their lives for Obama if necessary. In my opinion it is a very risky and dangerous job, knowing that within seconds somebody could start shooting at the president and they would have to sacrifice their live to safe the president.
Homeland Security is also responsible for preparedness, response and recovery to natural disasters, because it includes the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA). The Federal Emergency Agency is responsible for the organization of special forces in critical situations. These forces include police, fire personnel and doctors.
